Dr. Vidyadhar Gopal Oke
Dr. Oke is a Medical doctor (MBBS, MD Pharmacology from Bombay), further trained at Duke University in U.S, London Business School and at Wellcome Research Laboratories at Beckenham, England where 5 Nobel laureates had worked at one time. At 52 years, he gave away the post of President from the Pharmaceutical Industry and devoted life to 22 shruti research.
He has been a 3rd generation musician and a student of Pandit Govindrao Patwardhan. In 1972, he gave a Solo harmonium performance on Bombay TV in its year of introduction. He obtained ‘Sur-Mani’ of Sur-Singar-Samsad in 1978, and has performed world over, accompanying stalwarts including Asha Bhosle, Vasantrao Deshpande, Manik Varma, Malabika Kanan and Rashid Khan.
He is the 1st Indian to complete 22 shruti research
in Indian Classical Music.
